Getting More from Your Life Insurance Policy!
23 October 2018
Gone are the days when a life insurance plan was just about protecting your family from death and critical illness. There are now a whole range of additional benefits that can be included in your plan. Below are a few of the current benefits available from the leading lenders in the market.
Promoting A Healthy Lifestyle
Vitality is one of the leading companies in offering additional benefits. Its rewards scheme encourages you to lead a healthier life.
An online health review will let you find out your Vitality age – based on a calculator that assesses the impact of your lifestyle on your health. Use Vitality’s app via your smartphone or Apple watch to track your activity and get up to 40% off a range of devices designed for running and cycling.
Other deals include up to 50% off Virgin Active or Nuffield Health gym membership fees, 50% off a pair of running shoes at Sweatshop, and up to 50% cashback on an Evans Cycles bike. The aim is to earn Vitality points and earn prizes, such as a Starbucks drink or tickets to see the latest films at Cineworld or Vue. They have also recently launched a tie-in with Amazon Prime whereby you can receive free membership depending upon the number of monthly healthy lifestyle points that you earn.
Aviva also offers 25% of gym memberships at selected gyms if you are a current policyholder.
Access to GP & Care Services
Aviva, AIG Life, Royal London and LV plans come with access to a doctor’s support service - a second opinion medical service which can provide guidance on the most appropriate treatment should you or your immediate family be diagnosed with a serious illness.
Legal & General offer The Private Consultation Concierge Service, at an additional charge, which is designed to help your client and their immediate family locate a private consultant or specialist and make an appointment for an appropriate time and date, following a referral from your GP.
AIG Life policies also include access to Winston’s Wish, a charity which helps bereaved children, young people and their parents or carers cope when there’s a death or diagnosis of a terminal illness in the family.
Access to Legal Services
LV offer a legal advice line which can advise you on a range of legal matters. It can offer practical advice on general law, property-related issues, will and probate, matrimonial conflicts, as well as employment and family legislation.
Hassle-Free Moving Home Service
Smoothmove is a 24-hour home moving service offered by Legal & General for existing customers who have a life insurance policy that covers their mortgage. This cover provides car recovery, a replacement removal van and emergency hotel accommodation if anything goes wrong on your moving day.
Other Covers Available
Many critical illness policies now come with children’s critical illness cover included in the overall cost of the plan.
Terminal illness cover which pays out the lump sum or monthly benefit if the life insured is diagnosed as terminally ill and is eligible to claim is also available under many life insurance policies.
